A visiting Evangelist

Uncategorized

We closed 2015 with a very special treat for Trina and I.  Pastors Toby and Suzy Ratcliff from New Life Church in Kenefick, TX came to South Africa.  They have long been some of our closest personal friends as well as allies in ministry. We have worked extensively over the last 7 years to encourage and disciple leaders in the Zulu Church here in Natal.  Over time it became clear that we needed to help them reach out to the lost in their rural villages. Because Pastor Toby has clear gifting to present Christ to the lost, it was a perfect fit to have him preach a week long crusade in the village of one of our key leaders.  The results were fantastic with many Zulus of all ages coming to know the Lord for the first time or rededicating their lives to His service. We are hoping to be more consistent in the future with evangelistic outreach in these rural Zulu areas.  Not only is the gospel preached through the meetings, but the local Pastors are really energized to step out in evangelism once the meetings end.

In addition to the crusade, Pastor Suzy ministered on separate occasions to Zulu women and a gathering of both male and female pastors.  Suzy has both a gift of encouragement and keen discernment concerning the spiritual condition of people’s hearts.  Zulu ladies are are among the most discouraged segments of society in South Africa and Pastor Suzy reminded them that everyone who knows the Lord has a secret place available to meet with Him.  She also sensed that rejection was something that affected the Body of Christ in the area. She had no idea that this was a familiar subject and her message resonated with everyone.

It was such a breath of fresh air to work with people that clearly understood our mission! I can’t wait for the testimonies to come from the many lives that were blessed by this precious couple.  I know that Trina and I are praying that it is only the beginning and that they will return soon!
